I began painting when we retired to Mexico in 1994 and took lessons from a Bulgarian artist, who was trained in Europe in the classical method and who had taught in the U.S. Following this, I took classes from a former billboard painter who was Mexican and a native of the pueblo where we lived He knew everyone in town, so we always had great models.When we moved to Las Cruces, NM in 2004, I continued to seek opportunities to paint people and took classes from Carolyn Bunch and Lorenzo Zepeda, who both encouraged and taught me a lot.
