Yankee No. 1003 Bench Drill Press- excellent condition

Description: Yankee Automatic Bench Drill- This is a unique hand-cranked bench drill press with automatic feed that adjusts to the height of the workpiece. At that point the ratchet engages to adjust pressure to avoid drill bit breakage. The table can be adjusted with great precision using the bottom turn knob. The drill appears to be all cast iron construction. There are no cracks, dents, or imperfections...it has seen very little use. The chuck shows a bit of light rust that can easily be cleaned up, but that is up to you. All gears, pinions, and moveable parts are completely intact- no missing teeth, all springs and ratchet mechanisms work as designed. Please note: the ratchet mechanism works on this drill. However, there are 2 knock off mechanisms ("ratchet shifter) that disengage the ratchet lever. The knock off's are at the top and bottom of the travel path of the drill; each works, although I have noticed that a slight amount of upward pressure on the chuck or spindle is required to allow the drill to travel upward (by turning the handle counter-clockwise) when the the drill path is at the lowest point, and the ratchet pin has been disengaged by the lower knock off post (see the advertisement). I don't know if this is the "normal" mechanical function or if some adjustment is needed. Contact me if you have questions; I can supply a video clip for additional explanation.
