The knife is in very good condition and retains a fair amount of the original blade finish. My understanding is that this is the 2nd Variation of this knife. The top of the guard is marked "KA BAR OLEAN N.Y.". The guard has a bit of wiggle in it as Bakelite shrinks slightly over the time. This type knife is illustrated on page 161 of "Knives of the United States Military World War II by Michael W.
