Description: This is a very fine First World War Imperial German 1914 Iron Cross in its presentation case that remains in excellent condition. The non-magnetic cross is with a clean, stove black, magnetic iron core and a nicely toned silver frame. The detail to the crown, ‘W’ monogram, and 1914 date is sharp and well-defined. There is slight wear to the ‘W’ that reveals the underlying base metal which appears to be either red brass or copper. The cross is housed in a 2½ inch x 3¼ inch tan flocked case. The underside of the lid is of textured ivory colored satin over a hard base. The bed upon which the cross rests and the channel for the ribbon is of white satin. A piece of original ribbon is contained in channel. The jumper ring is unmarked. A beautiful example that remains in extremely fine and undamaged condition.8476
