Description: This is an exceptionally fine First World War German 1914 Iron Cross in its black leatherette presentation case that remains in excellent condition. The cross is nicely vaulted, with a pristine stove black magnetic iron core, and an attractively toned silver frame. The detail to the crown, ‘W’ monogram, and 1914 date is sharp and well-defined. The unmarked reverse is with a wide tapered pin and wire catch, both of which remain fully functional. The black leatherette case measures 2½ inches square and is with a perfect silhouette of the cross embossed in silver leaf on the outer lid. The interior is with a white lid lining and a fitted black velvet bed upon which the cross rests. The lid lining exhibits some indentures as can be seen in the photos. The lid is securely held in place by the spring button catch which remains fully functional. This ensemble exhibits the highest degree of quality and craftsmanship. Excellent and undamaged.8925
