Description: You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 German Heer / Luftwaffe R.F. 12x60 Richtungsweiser - Fernrohr Fernglass (FlaK Spotting and Ranging Binocular)! The German Army used a wide variety of optical equipment. German archives gives this series as Richtungsweiser-Fernrohr, but the abbreviation on the identification plates varies. Rm (Raummess) and Beob (Beobachtung) are normally found. The reticles in these with either a grid system; pointed arrow; or simply no reticle. This type was used on the fire control units "Kommandogerät 40", and in most cases two of them were fixed on the 4m range finder (one being used as a back-up). Made of a large tooled alloy and aluminum construction, these 12x60 power rangefinder/ targeting binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition. They retain approx. 95% of their original paint and finish; the eye sockets are intact; and the focus rotates smoothly! Optics are SUPERB, and VERY CLEAR with NO SPOTTING! The data plate is FULLY intact, indicting: blc (Zeiss) Rm.-F.12x60 für Em 4m R40 The rubber head pads have deteriorated slightly over time, but that is pretty common (replacements come up by themselves quite a bit). Filter knob rotates correctly, and the Sun Shield is also original to this set! The RARE feature is that the Sun Shield retains BOTH internal dark grey filters! These were usually missing or not installed at all (see photo). Appears to have had a fixed sight mounted to the top at one point. The strap that retains the bakelite cover appears to have been replaced in the field, as the one that is installed was modified from a German binocular case strap A PERFECT example for any collection or display!
