Description: Hello there! Powell’s the name and adventure was the game! Once upon a time I was a fellow of action, travel and daring deeds…I went far and wide in pursuit of wild places and wilder people. But alas, time has caught up with me; no longer can I wander - at least not without my Zimmer frame, and now all my lovely old kit must go… The country pile has been replaced by a care home in Bournemouth, my trusty canvas satchel replaced by a biodegradable carrier bag… the shame of it all! So, if you need vintage outdoor gear, I’m your man. It’s all well used and loved but has plenty to offer the collector or budding Indiana or Quartermain… knew them both well of course! Hello there! Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ‘Now war is an ugly business, no getting away from the fact, but being comfortable when facing grim adversity is essential, and we Brits have made this possible with the simple expedient of damn good campaign furniture. I have had years of using this stuff in every far-flung corner of the globe. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it performs superbly! It is a tad awkward to lug around granted, but that’s what mother in law was build for; in fact once whilst trekking across the Punjab, two local chappies tried to take the old girl away, mistakenly thinking her to be their lost bullock. Such are the trials of travel! But be certain of one thing, you’ll rest assured with British ‘X’ furniture. Sadly, I’ve got to let my old bath stand go, we won’t have the room at the ‘West Bay home for retired gentry’ and the chief warder, sorry manager, doesn’t like cluttered cupboards! It needs a home and someone to care for it ...’ * WW1 – 1930’s era ‘X ' furniture bath / washbasin stand * Classic British made example of a most brilliant design concept for outdoor living * Rot proof Willesden canvas bath * Oiled hardwood wood frame* Makers X trade mark and possible service number on frame * Comes with a leather strap that may have been a dog collar in another life Condition: Very good on the washstand; it’s got a nice opening action, the paintwork has been lightly over painted with Japan black, and the wood re oiled. The canvas has had two recent fills and is water tight – the more it’s used the more the fibres swell. HISTORY: This is one of two baths sets that we aquired from a retired Army Major back in the 1980s. He worked post-war as survayor and travel widely. We used our bath on numerous family camp trips - mostly as a water storage option - and many living history events. So, to sum up. A good working washstand and canvas bath Please feel free to message for further information, or if more pictures are required. As a collector, I fully appreciate a well packaged parcel; yo can rest assured we take great care when wrapping our items. All the best, CP
