Description: These items are from the estate of a long-time collector of items from a variety of fraternal organizations. The owner was a Past Worshipful Master and 49 year Mason prior to his death, belonged to the Shrine (member of the Clown Corp for many years), Scottish Rite, Grottoes of North America (MOVPER), Eastern Star, and Advisory Board Member and Grand Cross of Color recipient of the Grand Cross of Color, Order of the Rainbow for Girls. These are pieces he used and others he collected. This vintage "Silent Messenger" figurine depicts a Shriner carrying a little girl while holding a pair of crutches. The Shriner's are well known for their mission to provide healthcare services to crippled children. Since its inception, the program has grown to include 35 hospitals and clinics throughout the continental United States, Alaska, Hawai'i, Mexico, and Canada. Additionally, they provide outreach clinics in the U.S. territories, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America, Eastern Europe, and the Pacific Islands. They offer education and training annually to more than 1,0000 physicians and medical students from around the world so they are able to perform the services provided by the Shriner's Hospitals and other facilities. There is no cost to the family for the services. The organization will help the family secure assistance, access their insurance coverage, or other options. Children who qualify for the services are never turned away. Though the range of services provided for children has increased over the years, services related to orthopedic diagnoses remains the main focus. They also have a burn hospital, where they treat children who have suffered serious injuries from burns.
