Description: Vintage/Antique AMBER ALABASTER MARBLE Urn Lamp Hand Carved 15" Tall Uplight HEAVY, top-quality lamp, circa early 20th Century. This is a rare one- almost never seen or available these days. Quite collectible. This is a 2 piece lamp- top half lifts off quite easily to be able to change out the bulb, which screws into the bottom half of the lamp above base from inside. The 2 pieces fit perfectly together and it looks like one single piece when joined. Pedestal/Trophy Urn Style with many luxe features:Hand carved vertical ribs on bottom and beaded edge decoration at top rim and edge. Fabulous. This lamp has an incredibly beautiful natural pattern in an amber/butterscotch colored alabaster/marble. Light and dark swirls and whirls throughout- lamp looks fabulous from all angles. When lit, the light shines upwards as an 'uplight' and illuminates the top half of the lamp from within with a magnificent lantern effect which shows off the alabaster's color & pattern. This lamp is a showstopper when lit- stunning! Size Approx. 15" From top to base of lamp Body of lamp is 11" tall from base to where the top half rests, and lamp can be opened. Opening is 6.5" across when top is lifted off Top piece is 4" high x 7.25" across at larger open base where it rests atop bottom of lamp, top opening 4.75"Square base is 4.5" x 4.5" with soft felt furniture pads underneath corners to prevent surface scratchesGenerous 86" Cord, 2 prong style in perfect condition- no wear or cracking, no need to replace. Cord is dark brown.Cord has a dark brown click wheel 4.5" down its length, away from the urn. Lamp is turned on or off by simply turning the wheel. Appears to be Bakelite. Works perfectly. Excellent Condition other than of the 40 round beaded edge decorations along the top cap edge where it joins the base, one is 1/2 missing and the one next to it has a small portion gone. The missing areas are incredibly minor, hard to notice, and smooth on the surface [not jagged or rough]. See last 2 pics- shows from above & below viewpoint. One minor rub mark along the pedestal base edge. There is normal very light wear [rub marks which are lighter] where the top cap rests on the lower half of the lamp, where the 2 pieces are in contact. Not visible whatsoever unless the top half is removed to change out the bulb. Some slight [clear] glue residue near bottom of pedestal bowl from when the lamp was created- very hard to see unless searching, show in photo 22. Some minor FAINT surface rubs here and there normal for age. No cracks, no nicks. Heavy weightVery unique, a special lamp. These lamps are getting harder and harder to find, especially in such beautiful shape.
