Description: The longer I hold on to this box the less I want to let it go:) an absolutely amazing music box with a St. Croix Reuge that plays 3 songs. It was hand crafted in a wooden hinged box that has beautiful wood grains and has an inlay of 2 elephants with raised trunks on the top of the box representing good luck and blessings. There is a crack on one of the feet and other stress cracks may be found in the inlay as well. please view all pictures for details. it is amazing how much of the inlay still is intact as many old pieces like this have lost their inlay. the box has some stress cracks from age as well. but is overall very nice for its age. The hinge on the box works well and stops at just over 90 degrees when opened.no attempts have been made to clean or restore this item and i would recommend only allowing an expert to restore this for you if that is your wish. the songs play and the movement winds up properly. i have never experienced one of these music boxes before and was very impressed when I pushed the release beside the drum to hear and watch this box play its tune. The metal prongs do have some surface oxidation which will require proper cleaning.I see what all the fuss is about on these boxes and the quality they are made with is absolutely stunning.
