Description: REVISED-Price reduction from $39.75 to $29.75 This is a vintage- beautiful and colorful ornate statue of Juan Diego who Blessed Mary appeared to in 1531. Juan had converted to the Catholic faith at 50 years old. He helped establish the church in her honor at the hill of Tepeyac(north of Mexico City). On the third try to convince the local bishop to erect the church-Mary performed the miracle of roses(in the winter), and her image on his cloak. He went to the bishop who was convinced after seeing the live roses(in the winter) and the image. This cloak-with the image of Blessed Mary-remains perfectly preserved to this day at the church. She instructed that her image from that time should be known as Santa Maria de Guadalupe. Nobody supposedly knows why to this day. I have also included the last picture as some more information about this miracle. The statue measures approximately 9.25" by 4". The diameter of the base is about 4.5". There is a sticker on the wood the base-Le Jardine collection-hand painted-French Design. The pictures are part of the description. Thank you for viewing.
