External portable player/drive with 68-pin SCSI-2 interface. 2X CD-ROM speed. Portable unit is dual-use as a CD player and also as a computer CD-ROM drive. Includes attached model 660-0021-02 Battery Base (for portable use), Media Vision branded flexfoam carrying case (excellent condition), original power supply (13.5V, 1.5A, center positive), original stereo audio cable, SCSI-2 cable, SCSI-2 terminator, and original instruction manual and other reference materials, plus registration card and advertising collateral. Powers up and spins up and plays CDs. Battery packs (one in the CD player and two in the Battery Base) are not holding a charge. Unable to test further. Sold as is. This item is very interesting historically as it represents the blending of CD audio discs for listening to music (their traditional use) with use on computers for "multi-media" (video/audio/data), which was all the rage back in the early 1990s. This would've been a handy device to have, being able to play your music CDs, or accompany your laptop on your business trip so you could have access to CD-ROMs as well, with its own battery pack to make for a truly mobile multi-media experience.
