Description: Vintage ANDRE MINAUX Heavy Alien Bust Sculpture Extra Terrestrial Modernist MCM Constructed of metal, possibly bronze, and has a nice solid weight to it. The surface is cast in a metallic silver foiling. The sculpture is signed, and has the foundry mark and copyright on it as well (see photos). Measures: 9 1/2" Tall x 3 1/2" Wide x 4 1/2" DeepWeight: 4 lb's 14 oz About the artist: Andre Minaux was a Contemporary French painter, draftsman, lithographer, engraver, illustrator and sculptor. He belonged to the illustrious School of Paris, to the Young Painting movement in the 1950's and then to the group of Painters Witnesses of their time. In 1950 The Museum of Modern Art of the city of Paris acquired one of his paintings In turn, the Tate Gallery in London quickly followed suite. He took part in the 1948 Salon d'Automne with 'Le Raccommodeur de filets', a work hailed by a multitude of art critics. A year later, his work was crowned by the critics' prize and displayed his work at the Salon des Jeunes Peintres, at the Claude gallery on rue de Seine in Paris. He exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1952 and continued to exhibit Internationally up until his passing in 1986.
