Description: First and foremost, I can't give you an accurate date of this platter. It's definitely "vintage"; it could be antique...I can guarantee the former but not the latter. Here's why: the Rosaline pattern name appears on Alfred Meakin logos shortly after he set up business in Tunstall, England in 1875. We also know that he didn't start adding "England" to the logo until 1890. He and his son both died in the first decade of the 1900s, and the company name became "Alfred Meakin (Tunstall) Ltd.", but you can find logos with "Alfred Meakin" with the crown used erratically all the way up to the 1960s, when a New Jersey company bought the business (which had been owned by extended family members). Those of you who know more may be helped by the "10" and "P8" which are punched in the back. On the more definitive side, the Rosaline pattern is on a million different items, so if you collect or want to start a new hobby, here's a great addition! This platter comes from my late sister Betsy's extensive collection of everything; I'm forever sorry she's not here to give me answers. Thanks for reading!Rick
