Description: Here is a fully functional 25-year-old system in a standard white ATX mid-tower case with some noticeable dents. This month I replaced CMOS battery and sound card, and reinstalled WIndows 98SE with all necessary drivers. It is now ready to install your favorite applications, from floppy diskette, CD, or from a USB flash drive. This is a tower case from the days when some people still used multiple 5.25" drives. The case is 15.8 inches tall and 17.0" deep. With a CD ROM, floppy drive and 3.5" hard drive installed there are still two exposed 5.25" drive bays, plus one hidden 3.5" drive bays available for an additonal hard drive. The heart of the system is a QDI ATX motherboard with an Intel 440BX chipset. I include a 400 MHz Intel Pentium II slot 1 processor with a 100 MHz FSB and 512KB cache. There are three 168-pin sockets for PC100 SDRAM with one 64MB DIMM installed. Maximum RAM is 768MB. The motherboard includes connectors for two PS/2 ports, two USB 1.1 ports, a parallel port and two DB9 serial ports, all in back. A D-Link DFE-530TX+ 10/100 ethernet card in a PCI slot. Another PCI slot has a sound card with the ESS Solo-1 chip (ES1938S) which is excellent for DOS gaming. The AGP graphics card is an Acer/AOpen card 8MB of EDO RAM and an SiS 6326 GPU. One of the ISA slots is filled with a US Robotics 56K voice/fax modem. The motherboard still has three slots free: one PCI slot, one ISA slot, and one that can be either PCI or ISA. The original 1.44MB floppy drive, Western Digital 8.4 GB IDE hard drive and generic ("Factory code 9 Taiwan) 40X CD ROM are all still working. However, the CD ROM tray usually does not eject unless you poke something in the eject hole in the front. I am happy to answer any questions about this system before your purchase.
