Revised New Edition with augmented section on Endocrine Glands Soft Cover Book 86 Pages with many Color Illustrations Authors- Franz Frohse, Max Brodel, Leon Schlossberg PREFACE This Allas of Human Anatomy is designed for both the layman and the student of anatomy. It is apparent that the remarkable colored illustrations by Professor Franz Frohse supplemented by the excellent work of Professor Max Brödel are valuable for groups as diverse as these seem to be. Visual aids in the education of all persons are today increasingly appreciated and the beautiful drawings reproduced in this book afford instructions for him who is a beginning observer of human construction as well as for him who wishes to review a more detailed knowledge of the field. What are the marks of an educated person? When is one educated? These are preplexing problems that confront those engaged in planning programs of education. At one time the answer was easily made. Leigh Hunt once said, "I thought that my Horace and Demosthenes gave me the right to sit at table with any man," but there are few today who would con- tend that Latin and Greek are the indispensable marks of an educated person. The student of medicine, by prolonged study of the human organism, learns to appreciate and value its plan, functions, and prevailing harmony. To the layman, the human organism is usually a mystery, and thus the instrument with which all of life is lived, often remains an unknown and mysterious thing. It would appear to be true that one mark of an educated person would be a knowledge of human anatomy sufficient to give an intelligent appreciation of the many proposals of biological import that are made for human betterment. Additional study of the illustrations in this book, by the student of anatomy should enrich his understanding and increase his appreciation.
