Description: Seasons Greeting Bringing Home the Greens Surratt Society Pairpoint Holiday Glass Cup Plate Amberina Glass Glows Under Black Light Vintage Victorian Christmas Decoration This vintage holiday Pairpoint Cup Plate is the third in a Christmas series by the Surratt Society of Clinton, Maryland. The cup plates featured popular Victorian prints. The theme for 1983 was "Bringing Home the Greens" and is an adaptation of a Winslow Homer drawing. The Surratt family, their home, and tavern played a significant role in the events surrounding the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth. The cup plate number 264 is also known as "Season's Greeting." The informative insert is signed by the designer, Paul J. Grassler, and the engraver, Andrew Bourbon. The color of the cup plate is amberina (orange yellow). Review photo to see how the color reacts when under a black light. Handcrafted on Cape Cod using time-honored techniques, these 3.5 inch cup plates have subtle variations that highlight the artisan's skill. Each cup plate is crafted using a mold created with a hammer and chisel, and then pressed with molten glass using an antique press. This manufacturing process results in cup plates that are similar yet possess their own distinctive characteristics. Look closely and you'll find the artisan's initials and the Pairpoint trademark within the design. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these versatile art glass pieces can add functionality to your home, serving as catchall dishes for organizing small items or ring dishes to keep your treasured jewelry safe.
