Description: Underwood 450 Typewriter, Olivetti Lettera 33, Studio 45 Seventies vintage typewriter that has been cleaned, lubricated, and tested. The machine is missing the top cover and the plastic cover on the left carriage release lever. If I can find the release cover it will be included in the shipment. Does not include ribbon or spools. Does include thumb nuts for ribbon supplied by others. This typewriter would make a good parts machine, even though it works very well and has a smooth typing action. The back of the typewriter has a sticker that reads “Made in Spain”. This typewriter is the same mechanism as the Olivetti Lettera 35 and the Olivetti Studio 45. The typewriter is in good working condition. The type size is pica, i.e., ten characters per inch horizontal, six lines per inch vertical. All the keys work and type and return smoothly without sticking. The shift keys and shift lock mechanism work properly. The ribbon vibrator i.e. the part that raises and lowers the ribbon works correctly. The carriage moves smoothly and travels all the way across without assistance The carriage returns smoothly without unusual noise or vibration. The escapement works well, it does not skip or stutter. The carriage return lever / paper advance mechanism works with options for 0, 1, 2, or 3 line spacing. The paper set functions such as margin set, platen release, carriage release and paper bail all function properly. The tab function works properly. This model has a lever for tab set and clear to set as many tabs as needed. This model includes a carriage lock which will provide a positive lock for the carriage preventing movement in either direction to protect the machine and the escapement when traveling. Best of all, the bell works. It gives a loud ring in a pleasant tone..-.-.
