Description: The Temporary State Commission On Tug Hill was formed by the New York State Legislature at the request of local citizens. They were concerned when an out-of-state developer obtained an option to buy a very large plot of the Tug Hill property. It was not that Tug Hill citizens view development as automatically bad; rather, they were asking, "What is the best use of the land and its resources for the people who live here and for generations to come?"The enabling legislation defined a 39 Town region, covering 1,285,000 acres, and charged the Commission to study all factors that affect the quality of life and then to make recommendations on the future. The results are recorded in this illustrated, staple-bound report, printed in 1976.
