Description: THIS LISTING IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES. THERE IS NO NEED TO BUY IT. JUST READ. HOPEFULLY IT FIXES YOUR ISSUE. Remotes and Receivers are NOT UNIVERSAL. There are over 30 different of each. They are not interchangeable. Each pair of remotes/receivers go with specific trees. You can't magically change a 10 year old tree that originally had a 4 function remote/receiver pair into a working 137 function tree just because you happen to buy a matching pair of 137's and feel special. Make sure you have a strong battery in the remote. Sometimes the battery is strong enough to make the red light on the remote go on, but not strong enough to send a good signal to the tree. Make sure your remote receiver is not covered by presents, tree skirt, or a passed out drunk Santa.I have found that unless your remote has obvious physical damage, like it was stepped on, the dog chewed it, the battery corroded the contacts, or it's just plain lost, that most remotes usually work as long as your red light comes on when you press a button, and you have a fresh battery. Though there have been occasional exceptions, when a remote is seemingly okay but not working, it's probably the receiver that is malfunctioning, not the remote. ASK IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS!!Make sure all your connections are tight, also checking the wiring harnesses/splitters up the tree between the sections. The best diagnosis for the receiver(for those with normal wiring) is to BYPASS the receiver(meaning take it out of the wiring sequence). You may need to use an extension cord or move the tree really close to the outlet as you will have temporarily taken out the 6 feet or so of cord. After taking the receiver out, hopefully the lights all go to a solid color(usually white). Your remote will not work(good or bad) with the receiver temporarily out. Now see if there are any bad bulbs/sections. If the lights look good with the receiver removed, your receiver is probably bad. If your tree still looks bad when the receiver is out, it's probably the wiring or the wall power supply(adapter) going bad. Providing everything looks good(solid color), then put the receiver back in place and see what happens. Sometimes it resets when doing this. See Photos #4 and #5 for the bypass. If you have access to a multimeter, test to make sure that the voltage/amps output on the wall plug-in power supply match what is written on it. Look on yours to find the ratings. A little variance is okay, but it should be close. If you don't have a multimeter, they are fairly cheap ($10-$15) to buy, or anyone that works on computers, electronics, cars, small appliances, etc should have one.Though an uncommon occurrence, EMI (electromagnetic interference, or ‘noise’ for short) from LED lighting may be an issue. If your tree is acting odd sometimes, but sometimes okay, intermittent problems, try turning off all LED sources close to your tree to see if your tree/remote works better. If your tree has some bulbs not responding, especially if in one group, swap some good bulbs with some bad bulbs. If the bad bulbs are now good, and the good bulbs are now bad, then the wiring or receiver is malfunctioning. If the bad bulbs are still bad once you moved them to a good area, then your bulbs are probably bad. However, these bulbs are LED and should last a pretty long time. So unless your tree is on year round you should only have maybe 5-10 bad bulbs at worst. If you have more not working, there is a bigger issue. Try plugging your receiver into each section individually if your tree allows. If they all don't work correctly, it's probably the receiver or power supply(adapter). If some sections work, but one is bad, then it may be just that section, or the harness/splitter leading to that section.Maintenance tip: When you put your tree away for the year, take the batteries out of the remote. If they remain dormant in the remote for the 11 month period, the batteries may leak causing the terminals/contacts to corrode and make the remote useless for the next holiday season. It's a simple task to do to prevent the need of purchasing a new remote. If you want to donate for these suggestions, you may purchase this item. I won't send you anything, other than a message thanking you and wishing you Happy Holidays!! Or just send me a message thanking me for my assistance...that would be good too!
