Description: Thedieck Department Store Sales Ad Magazine Sidney Ohio Antique 1923 RARE Features:A RARE FIND!Nice antique originalThedieck Department Store was a locally well-known dry goods business owned by Ignatius H. Thedieck in Sidney, Ohio. After his marriage in 1878 to Ida Wagner, the daughter of the Sidney’s wealthiest man, Thedieck’s aspirations of opening a department store led to the creation of a state-of-the-art shopping center in town - equipped with its own steam heating plant, modern passenger elevator, electrical light system, and free telephone service! By 1884, Thedieck launched his fifth department store of dry goods in Piqua. By 1900, he became known as a master merchandiser throughout the Midwest and helped establish multi-chain department stores throughout Shelby County. Through the aid of Thedieck’s business principles, the community of Sidney blossomed into an industrial town. He personally convinced new businesses to move to Sidney to increase the economic well being of the town, including the Sidney Machine Tool Company.
