Description: THE SCARLET LETTER [1926] Original Theater Window Card PosterPerfect, flat, and rigid There are just none of these out there. There are plenty of modern reproduction prints, but not the real originals like this. Lillian Gish was still trying to recover her image after the shame of association with DW Griffith's Birth Of A Nation, which glorified the KKK. She got the studio to make this picture, and help her regain public confidence with her playing a victim. Gish received a telegram from London that her mother had a stroke. She wanted to go be with her and got the director to accelerate the shooting schedule, finishing the film in a few days of uninterrupted filming, rather than the weeks or months expected to complete that phase. Still, the film won awards and made a handsome, if unexpected by the studio, profit. Free Domestic US Shipping
