First English Edition, first "book of the film" edition, and first to use the title The Blue Angel, after the German edition of 1905, entitled "Professor Unrat", and preceding the 1932 Jarrolds printing). The title page mentions the Ufa Wardour Picture (directed by Josef von Sternberg) starring Emil Jannings and a young Marlene Dietrich. No stills were called for in this printing. Dietrich was catapulted to stardom by this film. The story satirizes he hypocrisy of German bourgeois society and features Professor Mud, who discovers that his pupils are frequenting a club called The Blue Angel and are ardent admirers of an "actress woman", Rosa Frölich. A very rare and collectable edition, in nearly FINE condition, without dust jacket. Only one other copy of this rare film edition is available on the internet at the time of listing, and mine has the lower price.
