Description: Mid-century modern to contemporary aesthetic double sided figurative vase by Teela Banker. 14 1/2" tall, 6" wide, 4 1/2 deep marked as shown. Red earthenware body with white slip and sgraffito (incised through slip) decoration. Teela Banker is a contemporary New Jersey ceramicist with a history of New Jersey and New York exhibitions with others farther afield in Florida and Colorado. From the artists website: "I made my first clay object as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan. I did not have the opportunity to touch clay for another twenty years. The experience was magical, and I was hooked on making sculptural work. I have taken numerous workshops with wonderful clay artists and work in my own studio. My work has been sold in galleries and in group shows. I have also been rewarded by working with children and special needs adults, teaching them the joy and discovery of creating with clay.I find inspiration in the natural world. I am drawn to the textures, shapes, colors and patterns I see in my daily life and travels. Clay gives voice to my feelings and thoughts. My work is a reflection of my personal views, family identity, and concern for the world we all share."
