Description: This pin was purchased in Moscow, Russia in February 1990 before the fall of the Soviet Union. It celebrate the Soviet space shuttle Buran, which was developed and flown in an uncrewed orbital mission in 1988. A second uncrewed second flight was planned for 1993, with a duration of 15–20 days. Although the Buran program was never officially cancelled, the dissolution of the Soviet Union led to funding drying up and the flight never took place. The Buran Space Shuttle was destroyed in the 2002 collapse of its storage hangar.
