Soviet Russian WWII Medal Order of the Red Star NKVD TROOPS, REPRESSIONS

Description: Soviet Russian USSR WWII medal Order of the Red Star with serial number in the 1-1.9 million range awarded in 1945 to NKVD Major Arsenty Tikholazov, Chief of the 4th Department of the Headquarters of the 62nd Rifle Division of Internal Troops of the NKVD! During Tikholazov's tenure in the unit, the 62nd NKVD Division was involved in repression operations against the Ukrainian nationalist UPA, the Polish Home Army ("Armia Krajowa"), and the infamous Augustów Roundup ("the Second Katyn"). Tikholazov was previously awarded a Medal for the Defense of Moscow for service as Assistant Chief of Staff of a rifle regiment of the NKVD's 42nd Rifle Brigade. He was later awarded an Order of the Red Banner. Like this Red Star, the award was for long service. Condition is excellent, as seen in the images! Tiny enamel defects at the very tips of several enamel arms. The serial number of the award is authentic and matches the serial number shown in the archival documents, obviously!
