Compared to the popular Java moss (Vesicularia sp. and Taxiphyllum sp.), this rare moss requires more attention than other mosses because of its super slow growth. For significant growth, cool water temperatures, good lighting, micro, and macronutrients present in the water column, and high CO2 levels are essential. Snowflake moss can be grown submerged in the aquarium or emerge in a highly humid terrarium setup. Even though moss doesn't have roots, it can grow rhizoids that help it stick to any surface, such as rocks, stones, or driftwood. Because of its slow growth, it can attract algae to grow on its leaf, the best way to keep this moss clean is to have algae-eating shrimp such as Amano Shrimp, Red Cherry Shrimp, or other cleaning fish such as Doctor Fish, Otocinclus, Siamese Algae Eater or Nerite Snails.
