Description: 5/22/20 - Please review buyer comments made about the game in my feedback as a seller. The great classic SI ALL-TIME ALL STAR GAME (1973), close to a half century later, has an update. -Old format full color charts/ORIGINAL FORMULAS used. -16 original teams and their best players in their prime from circa 1955-present. -Teams are Yankees, White Sox, Indians, Tigers, Orioles, Red Sox, A’s, Senators/Twins, Reds, Cubs, Phillies, Pirates, Cards, Braves, Dodgers, Giants plus an AL and NL All Star team. From Mantle to Rivera, Koufax to Kershaw, Bench to Votto, Kaline to Verlander, Gibson to Molina, Schmidt to Nola, etc. - they’re all here. Trout, Ryan and R Johnson - “expansion team” players appear on the All Star teams. -As author of Superstar Baseball Set II cards, I own the ORIGINAL FORMULAS. They’ve been used in conjunction with modern stats to create a new game using the beloved ATAS style chart. -This is the ONLY SI/Superstar product in over 40 years to use the originals. -There are two listings being offered. This first one - #1 - is for a BRAND NEW COMPLETE GAME. Included are 18 newly designed team charts (16 original teams and two All-Star teams), a color copy of the original SI ATAS rules, my revised rules for 2019, new and scarce SI/AH dice, a striking playing field, a copy of an SI score sheet which you will have permission to copy, and a nice folder to hold the game materials. This listing is for people who do not own the original game/materials. Read the old rules, then my amplifications - and PLAY BALL! -Listing #2 will only contain the new charts and rules, a score sheet and folder. This might work for the veterans who own old SI Baseball dice and rules. -Note: Superstar Baseball rules are not the same as All-time All Star rules. -As in the David Neft 1973 original game, the Modern Era charts feature the 16 original teams plus AL and NL All Star teams - 18 in all. -Each team has 31 players, 25 roster and 6 “AAA” guys. Every player who played 5+ consecutive seasons for a team from 1955 through 2019 had a “tryout.” This process alone took about a year. -As used in the original also - CONSECUTIVE PRIME SEASONS were used in the calculations. Five seasons was a number that worked best. Some players benefited from 7, 9 or 12 consecutive years. In a few exceptional cases, 4 seasons were allowed. The overall goal was to have the players compete at their very best. -ALL players, including those who appeared in the 1973 game, have completely new and refreshed charts. There are many more stat resources around now than there were then - stuff like lefty/righty splits. -I started this project in the spring of 2015 and it is now complete in the spring of 2019. -This is LIMITED first - and maybe only - printing. It is an historical project that I finally had time to complete. -Original rules are used along with modern amplifications to add realism without tampering with the concise, exciting beauty of the original. CHANGES IN THE MODERN ERA GAME: Pitchers - -One of the only flaws of the original is that a pitcher could theoretically pitch 11 innings, surrender 15 runs and still not have his automatic out chart affected. This is corrected on an individual basis in the new game. -Individual ratings for innings pitched per appearance, fatigue, days of rest needed, home run% and ability to hold runners on base are examples of NEW features included - without affecting simplicity of play. -WAR, ERA+, etc. were added to original formula calculations for maximum accuracy. -Automatic Outs/BB/HR Ratings are listed for every pitcher. Batters: -OBP strongly emphasized with BB’s appearing on batters’ charts. Along with this, there are specific ratings for batters with LOW OBP. -Each batter’s “slash” vs L and R appears on charts - (BA/OBP/SLG) -Thought about keeping this as a surprise, but the the All Star teams, predictably, are amazing. As a BONUS, the six AAA players who appear on each All Star roster are 12 of the best “expansion” players since 1961. -This originated as a solo project to be shared only with my son and my former Penn State classmates, whose GPA’s eroded along with the numbers on the original SI dice, because we played so often. These people are the ones who encouraged me to share the project with the die hards. Listing says no returns - if you are dissatisfied with the project, please contact me. - Package will be shipped by USPS Priority Mail within two days. Cost is $7.35. -This was a very expensive project with design help from France and India, and please remember that there is a limited supply. I’ll try to answer questions. Thanks for reading.
