Description: Set Of 4 Vintage Caleca Melisso Salad Bowls Set Of 4 Vintage Caleca Melisso Salad Bowls Click images to enlarge Description This listing is for a set of 4 beautiful hand-painted pottery salad bowls made by in Italy by Caleca in the 1990’s. They can also be used as pasta bowls. The pattern name is Melisso. One bowl is signed “Dina”. The others are unsigned. Each 8.5" diameter bowl is white with colorful concentric circles in the center and coordinating pastel tulip flowers (some call them leaves) around the rim. All dishes are microwave and dishwasher safe, lead and cadmium free, and oven safe to 400°F. About Caleca: Caleca manufactured quality ceramic products for over 200 years, before closing in 2014. They developed a low porosity, strong ceramic body comparable to stoneware, vitreous and porcelain to create chip-resistant products. Caleca dinnerware is dishwasher and microwave safe, lead and cadmium free, and oven safe to 400°F. Each piece was manufactured in Italy from a unique red clay found only in the region of the original Caleca factory. The pieces were then hand painted by skilled artisans. The special manufacturing process and high firing temperatures created dinnerware that was much more durable than typical European earthenware. Condition: Used condition with nothing more than signs of normal use. Each bowl has a stilt mark on the bottom, as is common with pottery studio pieces.
