Description: Up for bid are 3 original antique pre-owned 1800s Petit Point Needlework Needlepoint Flora Examples Framed. Found at an estate sale of a collector of antique sewing, spinning wheels and other notions. The stitches are small - something between grospoint and petitpoint, and is the fine work of its day (late 1700s to 1800s). I am guessing more early 1800s. It’s a fine petit point needlework on silk gauze that depicts the most charming rose floral design. So nice are the images, darling composition and fine palette of colors. The three images are nearly exact duplicates of each other - you have to look under a magnifying glass to see the variation. Each rose floral needlepoint has a ribbon circulating the border. They each measure about 5” diameter. In addition, these are all framed in one old antique bubble glass frame with a maroon velvet background. This frame is probably from at least the Victorian era. It has been painted a gold color. The combination of this original needlework art and its frame make it a spectacular piece. In Very good to excellent for age and type. The old silk gauze has been left unworked except for the rose floral image. A couple of spots on two of the gauzes, but everything else is in great shape. The frame has some slight imperfections, but overall in very good condition. It has a hanging wire and ready for the wall, or perfect to shelf-display just as it is.
