Description: Two fantastic original silkscreen optical art prints from renown Canadian artist Robert Savoie. Each 35"x35" artwork is silkscreened with a very clever slightly offset dot pattern. One piece is titled 'Azur' and is colored with blue and black ink. The other is titled 'Emerald' with green and black ink. This series of prints is a perfect example of what Op Art is. Each print comes to life in person, any camera struggles to capture the dot interaction from several feet away. Both prints are low numbers from a limited edition run of 75. 'Emerald' is numbered 24 of 75 and 'Azur' is numbered 18 of 75. Both prints have the artists signature and date in pencil in the lower right corner.Silkscreen print on heavyweight paper. Measurements: image area: 33 x 33 inches (83.82 x 83.82 cm) sheet: 35 x 35 inches (88.9 x 88.9 cm) Both prints are in excellent condition with no damage. The paper is slightly yellowed from age and storage. Both are unframed. Shipping will be insured and packed in an 8 inch tube to prevent any damage from shipping. Originally held by C&D Editions Gallery in New York on Madison Avenue. The owner of the gallery closed up shop in the mid 1970's and had his inventory put into storage. For historical reference, there is another print from this series in the Buffalo AKG Art Museum (New York) titled Variations-R. About the artist: Robert Savoie is an esteemed 20th Century Canadain printmaker whose works are included in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, the Musee des Maitres et Artisans du Quebec and numerous private galleries and collections. One of Robert Savoie's most recognized works is a large public mural titled "Kawari Kabuto" located at Montreal's Square-Victoria metro station.
