The old Palmettos are trimmed, Greenbriar Vines removed & Yaupon Hollys hacked out of the way. We are always so blessed to have a wonderful Saw Palmetto Berry harvest. When the berries start turning and ripening, we cut the branch holding the beautiful berries. They are then open air dried in the Florida sun for weeks. We wash the berries in a mild bleach solution (so mild you could drink) with Florida Spring water. Once dried, they are vacuum sealed for freshness. You would not believe how strong these berries smell! These are commonly used to make an herbal tincture. YouTube is a great resource for additional information on uses, recipes, etc. These Saw Palmetto berries were harvested by hand, by us, in September 2024 Yes, its hot. Yes, there are snakes. Yes, we always get stung by wasps. Our farm is permitted by the Florida Department of Agriculture under Chill Hill Farms. We are allowed to harvest and sell Saw Palmetto Berries from our property.
