Product Description: This offering is for a new pair of men's Saucony Guide 15 running shoes in a size 11 D (US). This particular model is often referred to as the stability version of the Saucony Ride model and has undergone some major changes with this current version (as discussed below). Note: the "D" sizing indicator represents a men's medium or standard shoe width. As viewed in the pictures, these shoes are mostly blue with some white, black, silver and peach accents (or as the color labeling on the Saucony website states...Sapphire/Black). Some detailed specifications include the following... Pronation type: Moderate stability (as discussed below) Drop: 8 mm Heel stack height: 35 mm Forefoot stack height: 27 mm Weight (each shoe): 10.3 oz (per digital scale) Other notes: Most would probably consider this a trainer that is best suited for road/paved surfaces. Although, well maintained and relatively flat dirt roads would also be fine (like the many farm roads we run on in Kansas). I land somewhere between a neutral and a stability running shoe when it comes to a trainer. For me, this shoe falls in this "in-between" category. There are not the traditional stability features like a "post" or even higher density foam on the medial side of the shoe. Instead, there is a relatively thin plastic arch on the medial side with "PWRRUN" foam above and beneath it. This does result in some medial support, but it's more subtle relative to previous versions of this shoe. There is also a reinforced heel counter that helps lock-in the back of the foot and limits movement to either the medial or lateral side. Additionally, the foam geometry helps guide the foot. The modest midsole flare creates a slightly wider platform that creates more outsole surface area to contact the road (for inherent stability). I've also noticed the foam build-up on the sides that extends slightly above the inner sole, which also helps with stability because these foam "rails" offer additional medial and lateral support. In other words, this midsole foam build-up helps to "cradle" the foot in the shoe. Finally, I want to mention the Saucony "SPEEDROLL" rocker design at the forefoot that helps roll the foot through each gate cycle. In addition to the specs. noted above, I want to confirm this version of the Guide shoe is significantly different from previous versions. There is the difference in the aforementioned medial support and then there is the midsole foam. Some believe this version of the "PWRRUN" foam is a bit lighter and softer than previous versions. I am not sure about that, but I can confirm there is a lot more of it (foam). The increase in stack height from heel to forefoot is noticeable and results in a completely different shoe relative to previous versions. I found previous versions to be firmer and the medial posting more intrusive. Now I would not consider this version of the shoe to be soft or plush, like the Saucony Triumph model (for example), but it does seem to bridge that gap between a firm/responsive ride and a soft/easy ride under foot. It's still a trainer-type daily shoe, but the added foam offers a bit more protection, while still maintaining a somewhat responsive feel on the road. I realize my commentary is mostly subjective, and solely based on my experiences with this shoe, but please also take a moment to look-up some of the online reviews, as the feedback is mostly similar to my experience. As for their history, I purchased a small lot of Saucony shoes...some in my size and some not. This size is too big for me, so I am making them available here.
