Johannes Holst (1880 - 1965) was active/lived in Germany. Johannes Holst was born in Hamburg in 1880, initially started his career as a decorative painter studying with Heinrich Paul Lüdders, who worked as a marine painter too. In 1903 Holst started to work with the Hamburg Gallery Commeter, gaining a good deal by selling his paintings. Always being fascinated by ships, the artist undertook many voyages and even sailed himself. He died in 1965.
