Description: Elegant green vintage Art Nouveau compote vase with variegated swirled glaze and grape-like ornamentation. From the “Tuscany” line by Roseville Pottery c. 1927, a mid-period design by one of the best known and respected art pottery studios in the US, which operated from 1890-1954. Compote vases are excellent for centerpiece floral displays on a table or other prominent area. This vase’s swooping lines and subtle greens and grays are understated enough to let the contents shine, and it is also gorgeous on its own. The base is hollow so it holds longer stems than it appears! This vase is in great condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, or scratches. There are a few minor markings on the base that look like pencil marks. From the estate of a longtime collector here on Cape Cod. The vase measures 6.5” x 5” across the top at its widest points, and 5” x 3.5” across the base. It is approximately 4” high. There is no mark on the bottom; Roseville used only paper and foil labels on their wares between 1927-1935, and the original label is gone.
