Description: This is a Rorstrand vase from Sweden. Mid-Century Modern, it dates to the late 1950's or 1960's and was designed by famed ceramic artist and designer Gunnar Nylund, who joined Rorstrand in the late 1950's. This vase is an Acqua-Blue/Green color, which alone makes it a relative rarity. The vase is just under 8" tall, with a bulbous, almost perfectly round bottom portion, that is less than 3" high, followed upward by a long, thin neck that is approximately 5" by itself. Smooth to the touch, there is a "ribbed" pattern of straight lines from base to the top of the neck of the vase. The vase features the Rorstrand maker's mark underneath, with the handwritten letter "R" surrounded by three crowns; one on either side and one below the letter. Under that, the word "SWEDEN" is printed, with Nylund's initials, "G.N." below the country of origin. The vase is in EXCELLENT condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. The color is rare and this design is hard to find. It appears to be a "Ritzi" pattern, with a smaller bulbous base and long neck. This is a true Scandinavian, mid-century modern, classic piece. This combination of color and the design are difficult to find. Nylund is considered one the pre-eminent Scandinavian ceramists and sculptors of the 20th Century. Collectors and interior decorators, take note. See ample photos provided. Upon completion of your purchase, this lovely vase will be carefully packaged and shipped out to you in a timely manner.
