The 10-24 adapter is less commonly used and is a thinner thread, 90%+ applications use the larger, stronger 1/4-20 adapter. Due to the 10-24 adapter being thinner it may be more acceptable to breaking in car washes, so use caution and perhaps consider easily removing the antenna with the allen key before you go through a carwash.
