I redesigned the original Pilot case, created in 1994, which was specially designed to fit perfectly into the space between the captain and the co-pilot's seat. I was given access to journey through the RIMOWA archive to blend the past and future and chose this specific case thinking of the DJs in the 90's who co-opted Pilot cases to element-proof their equipment. This is a limited edition of 500 pieces. Intrigued by its evolving use over time, Daniel Arsham took on the iconic RIMOWA Pilot Case, which was an object of cult following amongst airline staff and musicians in the 1990s, and reimagined as a piece uncovered from an archaeological site in a nod to the artist's Future Relics series. The RIMOWA x Daniel Arsham Pilot Case in Silver is emblazoned with a series of vintage-style logos in an exclusive shade of Arsham Green Pantone. Arsham's Pilot Case boasts RIMOWA'S signature ridged aluminum per usual but etches co-branding across its surface, achieving the appearance of a well-traveled piece of luggage loaded with stickers from all sorts of exotic destinations. The accompanying leather luggage tag, in a specific shade of mint green that Arsham has used for over a decade, is currently not available for individual sale, though one imagines it would be highly sought after in its own right.
