Description: Rare piece that came from a collector's estate and the tag with it identifies it as a metal bread loaf. It is assumed that this would have been used for display and wrapped in paper of the brand of bread being sold in the store. We date this to the early 20th Century c. 1920s which was when wrapped bread became popular, but it could be earlier. In old green paint and it has a ribbed top that was characteristic of vintage bread or cake pans. The top and bottom appear to have been welded on and the piece is hollow. Size at the base is 7 1/8 inches long and 5 1/4 inches wide. Height is about 4 inches at the highest point. Condition is age appropriate with a good deal of patina to the surface, overall moderate wear and no damage, there is a loose piece of something that rattles inside--probably a piece of welding broke loose.
