Description: For sale is a highly RARE Antique 18th Century 1700s Polychrome Carved Wooden Doll/Santos with enclosed Glass Eyes. She has lost her arms and has only partial remaining paints on her upper body, hair, and face. Her long dress appear to be unpainted originally. Both eyes are present and seem to be in good condition. It may appear to be a bit creepy at first, but if you look closely, she has a very warm and charming smile. Most likely, it was originally intended to be a female saint figure with a colonial Spanish origin. It is acquired from a New England high end early wood carving auction from a significant collector estate. I will be listing a few pieces that come from the same collection. She stands 8.5" tall and 4" in diameter at the base. There is a significant crack on the dress, but it is not separated or re-glued. You can see the solid attachment of that piece from the view of the base. Overall, it is a very well preserved wood carve statue considering it is over 300 years old. The paint has wears and cracks here and there, which is what it suppose to be for a 1700s piece. The patina speaks for itself of the ancient age. Ship with careful package and full insurance.
