You can use these spaces to fill in the roof gaps to leave a flat surface to mount a roof top fan, vent, or window. The spacers are 3D printed using ABS plastic with is rigid but not flexible. The surface is slight rough, which gives a better surface for adhesives to mount too. The spacers are printed using a 20% infill. The spacers are drill-able (see pictures).
