Measures 8” H x 6” W.Each pot is carefully prepared for saggar firing. created A smooth surface created by covering the piece with terra sigillata, a fine clay slip that responds particularly well to the saggar technique. This slip covering is burnished to achieve a gloss finish. Prepared pots are nestled into saggar chambers filled with beds of combustible material, such as sawdust, organic materials, salts, and/or horsehair. These materials ignite or fume during firing, leaving the pot buried in layers of fine ash. Ware produced by the saggar process display dramatic markings, with colors ranging from distinctive black and white to flashes of orange, pink and red tones.Please see pics for details as each piece is unique.
