This is one of my favorite "hardy tropical" plants, as it is a vigorous but not invasive grower, very tropical looking, yet it easily tolerates hard frosts and freezes and has been unfazed in our garden down to 15F without any problems. These plants produce nice glossy green tropical looking leaves, and they crawl along the ground or will even climb tree trunks, as they make a very attractive clump. Asan added bonus, they sporadically send out beautiful white Calla Lily like flowers. Typically these plants can reach heights of around 2 feet. They are typically hardy to USDA zone 8, but are very worthy of trying in slightly colder climates, especially in protected spots. These plants will make a great statement in your garden, and will multiply year after year to make a greater display each year but they also make great indoor plants, and are extremely easy to care for as houseplants, as they do very well in every light level from full sun to deep shade and the low light conditions found in many homes.
