Description: PARKER “51” SPECIAL Fountain Pen & Liquid Lead Pencil Set in box The pen and pencil caps are very shiny. There are some extremely faint marks on the caps and bodies. Probably Octanium pen nib. The pen sac is pliable. The width across the nib measured using dial caliper is about 0.034”. The pen had blue ink in it. Flushing with tap water removed most of the ink. (The pen was not disassembled, other than to reach the sac.) However, it is recommended that the pen be serviced by a competent repairman. The Liquid Pencil still writes, having the appearance of a graphite pencil mark. The pencil eraser is present and appears slightly used. It is still somewhat pliable. (Liquid Lead refills are no longer available as far as we know.) The case is fairly clean with some pencil or pen marks, and a scuff on the top and a scuff on the bottom as shown in the photographs. The elastic banding in the pen and pencil case is present but stretched. There are other minor marks of use and storage. Markings Pen cap: PARKER MADE IN U.S.A. Writing with a fountain pen is almost unknown today, but is surprisingly enjoyable.
