Description: An outstanding vintage spelter (white metal) woman in Grecian style dress, seated on a hooved bench, reaching out to caress a Greyhound dog seated at her feet. The dog extends her head to the woman, with tongue extended as if to lick her hand. A lovely old piece with such appealing subject matter and the fine detail and composition of a fine antique object. The gold tone patina shows just the right amount of age and wear, showing a lovely soft glow. The chain held in the woman's right hand is only connected at the fingers, and flows loosely from her hand, a nice touch. This is a large piece, measuring 15" long by 9 3/4" tall by 7 1/2" wide. It weights almost 17 pounds, due in large part to the substantial granite base. The base is undoubtedly a replacement for a broken marble base, and it looks splendid with the figurine, which is solidly mounted to it. I purchased this for my dog collection in 1999 and it has been a treasured piece for all these years.There are no breaks, bends, cracks, repairs or restorations.
