He received Christ as Lord and Savior in May 1978 and has developed a successful Christian Ministry to counter the work of this cult. PETER BARNES' BIO: Peter Barnes was born in England. At the age of 20 and a nominal member of the Church of England, but having little knowledge of the Bible, he was looking for some answers to life's questions. The Jehovah's Witnesses called at his house, offering to conduct a "free" Bible study with him. He became a member of this small, highly exclusive group, moving rapidly from a Ministerial Servant to Congregational Overseer. Later, he was appointed as Circuit Overseer responsible for 16 Jehovah's Witness congregations. While deeply involved in teaching Watchtower theology as an overseer, he commenced a careful study of the Bible without the use of Watchtower textbooks. Gradually he began to see serious errors in the teachings of the Jehovah's Witnesses. In May of 1978, Peter received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Soon afterwards, his wife came to recognize the Deity of Christ, and in December of 1978, they renounced their membership in the Watchtower organization. After 30 years in a false religion, they now rejoice in knowing Jesus. Peter and his wife Ada, came to the United States from England in 1969. They have lived in Phoenix, Arizona; Aspen, Colorado; and since 1977, in San Diego, California. The Barnes are part of the ministry of Equippers, Inc. Rev. Daniel Johnson is the president. Equippers is a para-church group centered on Evangelism and discipleship training, and is incorporated as a non-profit corporation, associated with College Ave. Baptist Church in San Diego, CA.
