Description: Vintage and authentic. I can possibly get an exact date on this if I ask the right people the right questions. Estate find. The house that this came out of the couple lived in for I believe 77 years. I think they were married for a few years before that, possibly even prior to the groom serving in Europe. At the very least they were courting during the war. I believe that the “chalkware” ends at the white “frosting” and real, actual hardened “preserved” frosting and cake dough begin at the pink/peach. Yes I am almost certain there is real cake and frosting here which may or may not be of interest to the buyer. It could be carefully removed. It has a few places on the bottom where it has crumbled a bit but you have to actually apply pressure to get much more off so it shouldn’t just fall apart at random when picked up or moved. Whether removed or not, if intended to be used on a future wedding cake, I would suggest placing something sanitary between the topper and the cake. I’m not suggesting there is anything necessarily harmful here, only as a precaution and/or to alleviate concerns. The condition of the Chalkware is decent but has some minor stains/specs. The happy couple themselves are somewhat crudely made but I believe the sculpture and paint to be 100% intact. So any “flaws” are original to their manufacture and should not be considered wear or damage. The white flowers and leaves are somewhat posable along the fabric-wrapped wire archway. There is a little white bell hanging above the bride’s and groom’s heads made of plastic although it *almost* looks like milk glass. The bell does not have any wording on it and does not have a gong. I don’t think it ever did, it is just for show and being made of plastic wouldn’t have a “ring” to it anyways. Please contact me with any questions. I hope my photos will suffice for the most part.
