The union was founded in 1949 by the merger of four youth organizations. The CSM was a component of the National Front and was subject to the direct control of the Communist Party, while other youth organizations were liquidated. The main goal of the union was ideological influence on the youth and promotion of the policy of the ruling communist party. Its press organ became the publishing house Mlada Fronta. In 1968, the CSM disbanded. During the normalization period, the union was renewed and renamed the Socialist Youth Union (SSM).All members of the union, i.e. members of the union, wore a costume that was identical to the previous costume of the Czech Youth Union. The costume consisted of a blue sports shirt, the emblem of the Czechoslovak Youth Association was placed on the pocket. Part of the costume was a tie and a beret, equipped with the CSM badge. A blue skirt was recommended for girls, dark trousers for boys. In the summer, boys could wear corduroy blue shorts (Wiki).
