Description: Original "Self Portrait in Melancholy" by Christopher D. Moore (deceased 1994). Moore captured his inward struggled with his identity self-worth and addiction in this self-portrait. He uses so much yellow to remind him of the jaundice he had from his liver being damaged by his addictions. Notice his eyes are also yellow. His stare is one of confusion; his body is multi colored reflecting his inability to grasp any particular identity. Van Gogh was his favorite painter and he is reflected in the painting. The bold color reminds me of modern French artist Françoise Nielly's style. He was a good artist, university trained, and also created sculptures from Indiana limestone. In the end he succumbed to aids in 1994. The artwork is approximately 29 x 21 inches. I do not accept returns.
