Description: History of the Dal Tarot cards. Salvador Dal was commissioned by Producer Albert R. Broccoli in 1973, to create the cards and background prop artwork for the James Bond film Live and Let Die. Unfortunately the project failed to make the final cut for the cards and background artwork for the movie when Salvador Dal wanted a fee well beyond the films budget. They opted to have and use a Scottish artiest Fergus Hall do the deck and final artwork. Dali finished his deck in 1984 and accompanying artwork and released it in a limited edition. These cards are the 1st edition set. The original set sold out very quickly but latter edition and currently they are being sold on the Tascen website. This original set is opulently done with gold leaf side and gold back. Original edition opens from the top not the side. Made in Spain 1984. About the Deck This is the original 1984 first edition deck. With gold edged cards. Very rare and collectable. This deck is comprised of 78 cards with book in three languages written by Johannes Fiebig. Deck is 5 inch high by 3 inch wide, box contains deck and book.
